PREAMBLE

HEAV3NS is an independent cultural media institution dedicated to publishing, exhibiting, convening, distributing, and preserving creative work.

We welcome artists, audiences, curators, patrons, exhibitors, and cultural partners whose practices and perspectives may differ from our own.

Our founding principles govern the institution. Participants are not required to adopt them.

However, participation in HEAV3NS programming is subject to the following conditions.

"The institution shall remain open to interpretation, but not to disorder."

VI. Media and Public Representation#

Participation in HEAV3NS does not authorize an individual to represent themselves as an institutional officer, curator, spokesperson, or authorized agent.

Artists may discuss their own work and experiences freely.

Official statements, institutional announcements, sponsorship commitments, and media partnerships require authorization from the appropriate HEAV3NS office.

Participation does not imply endorsement of every statement or activity of the institution.

HEAV3NS shall likewise avoid falsely presenting an artist as endorsing its founding philosophy.

X. Authority and Accountability#

Curatorial authority governs artistic selection and presentation.

The Media Chair governs approved distribution, communications, and media partnerships.

Event operators enforce venue and program requirements within their delegated authority.

Agents may carry out approved operational instructions but shall not independently invent new grounds for exclusion.

Material restrictions and permanent participation bans require authorization from the appropriate institutional authority.

Participants may request clarification or reconsideration of an access decision through the institution’s designated contact.

HEAV3NS shall apply its standards consistently and shall not use conduct enforcement as a pretext for suppressing ordinary artistic disagreement.

The Institutional Covenant

HEAV3NS offers a place for creative work to become present.

We do not demand your allegiance.

We do not prescribe your interpretation.

We do not require you to share our founding philosophy.

In return, participation requires respect for the people, works, spaces, permissions, and commitments that make the encounter possible.

"You are free to disagree."
"You are not free to destroy the conditions under which others participate."

The institution retains the authority to curate its programs and protect their integrity.
